Easy to make Whirli Gig Plan
Our flying goose whirligig plan is a snap to make. He won't honk, but a simple breeze
will set his wings in motion as he rotates into the wind. Full size plan to make this whirligig.

Our detailed plan guides you along to build this gas engine powered, hydraulic log splitter. With rising fuel prices many are returning to the fireplace and woodstove for heating and of course the romance and comfort of a home fireplace is timeless. This project uses mostly hot rolled steel and will of course require welding. You will need to obtain the materials from local steel supply houses, farm equipment suppliers or welding supply houses ( look in your phone book yellow pages ). The required mechanicals such as a 5 HP gas engine, hydraulic pump and hoses, control valve and cylinder are often available at local supply shops or by mail from many suppliers such as Grainger, Northern Hydraulics and Harbor Freight.

Logs are easily split in seconds as the gas engine drives the oil pump which feeds to the cylinder, driving the ram into the log which is spilt by the wedge. The forward and backward movement of the ram is controlled by the operator using the control valve handle. This log splitter unit is perfect for the homeowner, it is compact (under 6 feet long x 3 feet wide) yet does heavy duty work. The wedge is 6" high. You can of course alter the cylinder, I beam and wedge for your preference.
